San Diego (to the border and back)

Sunday was the 13th day of the adventure and the end.  We began and ended the day as we started in San Francisco, with a ferry ride.  This time to and from Coronado.  Again, all 4 of us cycled.
It was a pleasant ride down the Strand. We navigated through Imperial Beach and were on to Boarder Fields State Park.  The park is a little bleak and features some sandy roads and a fence stretching into the ocean.

We dipped our front tires and took some pictures.

Rob and I felt obligated to walk up and touch the wall.  They had a peace garden where on weekends you could go right up to the fence.  Apparently, separated friends and family meet there to see each other.  It was pretty quiet when we were there.

Then, we headed back to San Diego.  We spent a nice afternoon watching the Packer game (loss to the Rams) with Rob's aunt and uncle, Vera and Don.  The last time Rob and I finished a ride and watched a Packer game was on October 15, 2017 in Key West, when Aaron Rodgers broke his collar bone.

After that, we began the not so fun task of packing up the bikes and getting ready to go home.

With this ride, I have completed 10,006 miles of my goal to ride my bike around the perimeter of the United States.  I estimate that I have about 1300 miles to go (home to Bar Harbor, ME).  Right now, that it tentatively scheduled for May 2019.

This was sure a fun trip to have Julie, Beth and Rob along.  They were all excellent travel partners and a blast to ride with.
